In 1894 and again in 1910 the runoff from the Ill River was blocked and a reservoir was formed between Vandans and St. Anton. It was quite a few kilometers long.


Bridge over the Ill River

Twice now, when the Ill flooded, it actually created a big lake between Vandans and St. Anton. The following is an account of the events that happened here. The first time it was the piousness of the people from Vandans that saved them. The second time it was their cheekiness.
