The village of Silbertal has a population of 900. Iron ore was mined in the 22 kilometre valley that goes by the same name. There are over 99 hiking trails on well marked paths which start out in the village. The Kristberg cable railway climbs 454 metres and serves as public transportation for the inhabitants and tourists in the village of Kristberg. See schedule for departure times.
