Information about the Cable Railway

by Frießnegger Harald last modified 2007-01-08 10:37

Years ago, the goods cable lift was on this spot.  Close to the village, there is enough room here for parking and turning around.  The decision to build the cable railway was made in 1962. Building the cable car railway made the development of the very remote village of Kristberg possible.  The cable railway helped to transport the school children and give the villagers more mobility, but bringing in tourists was the focal point of the railway.   With a capacity of 36 people per hour, it was gigantic when it opened but today it is a small, nostalgic railway.
