About Old Vandans

by Theresa König last modified 2007-11-07 11:39

Alois Schoder once told the story:  Sometimes, especially when the men were together, they would take turns telling such scary ghost stories that afterwards they would be afraid to walk home in the dark.  I was 15 years old when I got to sit with them one stormy fall evening.  The wind was howling outside and whistling eerily through the walls.  It was the kind of night that you wouldn‘t even put a dog out in.  One of the men there was called Wisis-Chresta.  He was a big, strong man and he said that he wasn‘t about to tell anyone what he had experienced up at the Agath stable- but you couldn‘t get him to go up there again at night for a million dollars.  I must have made a face because one of the other men - Boeschner-Fideli, who was sitting across from me, flew into a rage and said: “Don‘t you make a face like that you young scallywag.  One of these days you‘ll find out that there are a lot of things between heaven and earth that you don‘t know about.”
