Drinking Water

Apart from the commercial use of water power, the need for high quality drinking water cannot be ignored.  Working together with the Vorarlberg Ill power plant Corp. the Kaeppeli and Hoffmann springs were tapped in the Gauer Valley in 1953 and fed into the valley in an 8 kilometre long pipeline.  The Raetikon Mountain is an excellent reservoir.  The water stays inside the mountain for as long as 5 years with a discharge of about 36 sec/l and a constant temperature of 4.6° Celcius.  A network branching out in all directions supplies almost all of the households and the public wells with high quality drinking water.
